A ten-day Caribbean cruise might sound like a fabulous way to spend the holidays, but Liz would rather be anywhere than stranded on a ship with her estranged father for his high school reunion.

While an anonymous note, an onboard mystery, and a cute boy help turn the tide on the unwanted trip, Liz and her father drift even further apart. However, when Liz’s reckless actions create a tsunami of unintended consequences, she recognizes that she’s drowning in pent-up hurt and anger. As her carefully created façade begins to ebb away, she turns to her faith and sets off to chart a new course for her life.

Overview from Book Cover

I read Charting the Course by Leslea Wahl when it first came out and really enjoyed it! I loved watching how Liz changed slowly over the course of the book for the better. The chemistry and friendship between Liz and her new friend Cole was amazing. Another great thing was the bond between father and daughter strengthened tremendously throughout the book; which was a very nice addition to the plot. The mystery in this book was great, I honestly could not figure out the answer until Liz did! The climax was great, however I wish there was a little more clarity about Liz and Cole at the end of the story. Liz learns a lot about life, love, and faith in this book and I would 9/10 recommend this book to romance lovers, mystery lovers, and fans of Leslea Wahl.

*Things to Mention

Liz's parents are divorced. Liz takes things left by passenger's, which she eventually returns. A side character is accused of theft which begins the mystery.
