She's a tomboy. He's the boy next door.
With three older brothers, Charlotte Reynolds, aka Charlie, has always been more comfortable calling the shots on a basketball court than flirting with the opposite sex. So when her police officer dad demands she get a summer job to pay for the latest in a long line of speeding tickets, she's more than a little surprised to find herself working at a chichi boutique and going out with a boy who has never seen her tear it up in a pickup game. Charlie seeks late-night refuge in her backyard, talking out her problems with her neighbor and honorary fourth brother, Braden, sitting back-to-back against the fence that separates them. Braden may know her better than anyone. But there's a secret Charlie's keeping that even he hasn't figured out—she's fallen for him. Hard. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.
Overview from Book Cover
On the Fence by Kasie West is a cute friends to lovers small town romance! Charlie was such a fun character because she is athletic and had such good relationships with her brothers. She and Braden were so cute together, I loved how their interactions were fun and full of friendly competition. Another one of my favorite parts of the story was their late night fence talks. I thought they were such a cool part of the story and it really helped build their character's. I did not think Charlie went about all her life decisions in the right way, however her previous trauma with her mother explained some of the answers. This was not my favorite Kasie West book but it was still a sweet high school romance; and I appreciated how the characters were athletic as not many of her female characters are athletes. I would 7/10 recommend this book to everyone who loves friends to lovers romances!
*Things to Mention
A few kisses. Charlie's mom was killed in a car accident when she was young. The owner of the boutique Charlie works at is a little strange, however she is a very side character. Braden's father drinks and is verbally abusive.
